Lovely library on wheels takes books for children in Italy that does not have access to reading

Antonio De Cava is a lover of literature and retired teacher from southern Italy. Recognizing that children in local villages do not have easy access to books, he created Bibliomotocarro, a mobile library of some 700 books.

Designed to offer free books to young people, the vehicle is welcomed with smiles and enthusiasm wherever it goes. When the children listen to Bibliomotocarro's music, they run to see it, just as they would with an ice cream truck.

Built in 2003, the mobile library travels more than 500 km throughout the villages without pay, purely for the sake of books and an understanding of the importance that young people have to have access to them.

As he said in a video interview with Zooppa, "I always thought that children should have the opportunity to learn interesting things everywhere, not just while they are at school."
